Light the grill and set to low heat.

If it is you might not be lighting your grill properly and could be in what we call bypass. Not hot enough Problems with gas flow can keep a gas grill from getting hot enough. First make sure theres plenty of gas in the tank-the diminished gas flow from a nearly empty tank wont supply the burners with enough gas to heat properly.

If you do activate the gas regulator safety device the grill will only reach temperatures between 250 and 300F even with all burners on the high setting. To reset the gas regulator safety device. Open the grill lid.
Turn off all knobs on the control panel in front. The manifold on a gas grill has the burner control valves and the connecting gas tubing. If the manifold fails burners wont heat sufficiently or wont light at all.
If a valve is stuck and not working replace the valve. If the individual valve isnt available as a separate replacement part replace the entire manifold. You should inspect the burners at least once a year or immediately if any of the following conditions occur.
The smell of gas in conjunction with the burner flames appearing yellow. The Grill does not reach desired temperature. The Grill heats unevenly.
But for some reason your gas grill just isnt getting hot enoughor even worse its sputtering and not really starting at all. Youve checked to make sure your propane tank is full there arent any leaks in the hose and the gas valve is open so what gives. This little trick some call burping the propane tank could save the day.
This safety valve will not open fully until the gas pressure has equalized between the bottle and the grill. If the burners are in the on position gas is leaving the lines in the grill and this pressure cannot equalize. Thankfully there is a very simple fix.
Completely shut the valve on the bottle of propane. While a check valve error when your gas BBQ grill will not get hot or will not ignite is a user education error and an issue corrected by learning about your barbeque and your propane tank a gas leak should be corrected by a licensed gas service technician. Reset the regulator by turning off the burners on your gas grill.
Turn off the propane tank and disconnect the hose from the tank. With your gas grill lid open turn the burner knobs to high for. Problems with gas flow can keep a gas grill from getting hot enough.

If the tanks full but gas wont flow freely to the burners reset the pressure regulator. Leftover food and cobwebs can clog the burners and so not only prevent the grill from getting hot enough but in the worst case even cause a fire.
Such fires occur when something blocks the gas flow between the valves and the burner ports. Light the grill. Your grill should now heat normally.
To keep the regulator from sticking again turn off the grills control valves first then turn off the tank valve or. Light the grill and set to low heat. Loosen the venturi screw and open the shutters until the flame is mostly blue.
Turn off gas and tighten the adjustment screw. Let the grill cool. Open the grill lid then open one of the burner control knobs and light the grill.
Turn all burners to HIGH and close the lid. The flames should be strong.
